Speech Therapy

The speech language pathologists of Leeway School are dedicated professionals, each of whom holds the New York State license as a Speech Language Pathologist and the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology from the American Speech Language and Hearing Association.  Many of our speech language pathologists are PROMPT trained therapists.

The goal of speech language therapy is to maximize a child’s communicative abilities.  Our speech language pathologists use current therapeutic techniques to work towards the remediation of all types of communication disorders, including: articulation, phonological process disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, receptive and expressive language disorders, pragmatics and social communication disorders, swallowing and feeding disorders, speech fluency/stuttering and voice disorders.  IPads equipped with the Proloquo2Go augmentative communication device app are available to be used with nonverbal children or children with limited communication abilities.
